By comparison, an analogue recording is trapped on magnetic tape and the only definable characteristic is the length of tape involved.

Before Digital Dictation however, putting thoughts on paper would be limited by the requirement to deliver a tape or manuscript to the office for typing, or the professional would have to type his or her own work. None of this is now necessary, and business managers can genuinely think in terms of getting the job done wherever it is best (ie most effective) for the business and its staff.
